Oil on Canvas

'Nooks and Crannies' is my nostalgic wink to the wild, adventurous childhood spent weaving through the bushland of Western Australia: those days when a stick was a sword, a creek was an epic voyage, and every shadowy corner promised either hidden treasure or a particularly cranky lizard.

This painting is built on the memory of constant movement—new towns, new landscapes, new “don’t worry, you’ll make friends” pep talks. Through all those relocations, the bush became the one familiar friend that never packed up and left. Its little creeks, tangled branches, secret pathways and sun-flecked hideaways offered both escape and grounding. Nature was the constant. Nature didn’t judge. Nature didn’t ask if you’d unpacked yet.

In'Nooks and Crannies', those childhood explorations come alive again through layered textures, organic forms, and the quiet sense of peace that only a bushwalk can deliver. It celebrates the simple magic of wandering, of discovering, of feeling small in the best possible way.

it’s a gentle reminder that sometimes the greatest adventures aren’t on the other side of the world… they’re hiding in the nooks and crannies right under your feet.
