Oil and Palette Knife Technique on Canvas

'Cheers to You' was meant to be a quick painting. A casual affair. A “pop in, make something, pop out again” situation. Naturally, it had other plans.

I deliberately chose a palette I hadn’t worked with before — partly for the thrill, partly so my brain wouldn’t get too involved. The goal was simple: live in the moment, forget the noise of the world around me, and let colour, movement and vibe take the lead. No overthinking. No second-guessing. Just paint and see what happens.

Paintings, however, have a habit of announcing themselves when they’re ready. When I finally stepped back, this one looked me square in the eye, cleared its throat, and very confidently said, "Hello. I’m here."

So I did the only polite thing I could do and replied,Cheers to you— and welcome.

Created using oil and palette knife, this work is a small celebration of spontaneity, conversation, and saying yes when a painting decides to introduce itself.
